Why Is It Called A Binary Option?
Many people have heard about, or even utilized stock options to invest and hopefully make some money. They are a unique way to invest because you can make money off a stock that is climbing, or falling. They offer a way to leverage your money as well. The new term that is out there that has some wondering, “what is that?” is the binary option. It is another tool used in investing that has it’s similarities to stock options, but to explain it better, I’ll explain the term binary.
Binary code is used in mathematics, and also mainly in electronics. It is a language that can express numbers, or words using only two characters. One and zero. These characters are meant to indicate whether a particular position in a sequence is present or not. So, the reason that binary options are named “binary” is because there are two possible results from investing. Basically your returns will be present, or not. The returns are a fixed amount that is known before you invest. This makes for a simple investment in binary options.
If you were to invest with normal “vanilla” options you could see a large variety of outcomes based on what the underlying asset does. This is not the case for binary options. As stated before, there are only two possible outcomes. Obviously this adds to the simplicity, and binary options brokers are taking advantage. There has been a strong boost in the usage of binary options over the past few years and it shows no signs of letting up soon.
